Objectives

Pharmacists Without Borders (PSF-Canada) assesses the needs of underprivileged populations in third world countries as well as economically or socially underprivileged peoples, with the goal of establishing optimal strategies for supplying essential medications and medical supplies where they are most needed.

PSF-Canada strives to assure that technical assistance is provided to underprivileged countries that lack the capacity to cope with natural and/or man-made disasters. Essential medications are also supplied to these countries with the ultimate goal of establishing and supporting medication dispensaries and hospital/public pharmacies

PSF-Canada also assures that all developing and ongoing missions have adequate logistical support and maintenance, with a view towards the eventual complete recovery of the population and/or region.

PSF-Canada trains local health professionals by holding conferences, information and training sessions, establishing local, regional and national committees, in order to promote the rational use of medications. Relations are strengthened among health care professionals, more specifically focusing on improving the overall effectiveness of the pharmaceutical community and the competence of humanitarian aid workers, with the aim that each mission will result in success.

PSF-Canada is constantly researching the best methods for providing and distributing medications, organizing the collection of medications and medical supplies from the general public and from pharmaceutical laboratories, assuring the destruction of expired and unusable medications, and ultimately making available the properly selected medications in a timely manner, and in good condition.

PSF-Canada actively participates in the protection of the environment and utilizes its pharmaceutical competency to serve the preservation of the environment.

PSF-Canada works together with other humanitarian organizations to improve the health care of everyone, everywhere.
